Celebrating International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO)
17 May 2012
LMH is celebrating International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO) on 17 May as part of our on-going work supporting the diverse make-up of our tenants and staff.
We are proudly displaying the symbolic rainbow flag outside our head office in a show of solidarity and to raise more awareness.
Navajo Charter Mark
We're also proud to announce that today also sees LMH awarded the Navajo Charter Mark that is a seal of approval for the excellent work with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community (LGBT).
100% participation rate!
And in a further boost, we are also celebrating LMH's 100% participation rate in Grass Roots’ e-learning equality and diversity programme: the highest of any public sector organisation since it started online training eight years ago.
Signing the pledge
Last month, LMH joined 15 landlords from across Merseyside in becoming the first in the UK to sign a pledge to engage better with the region’s LGBT communities.
Celebrating IDAHO
LMH’s Equality and Diversity Manager, Lyn Bowker, said: "Our support of LGBT communities is a fundamental part of our work as an organisation to make sure the needs and views of all our tenants and staff are considered equally.
The International Day Against Homophobia provides a great opportunity for us to highlight the importance of equality and diversity issues in Liverpool and being awarded the Navajo Merseyside Charter Mark is further proof of our commitment to providing services and consulting staff and customers.
"We have enjoyed good success to date but need to continue engaging with more of our tenants and urge them to interact with us so we can create communities that make them feel more at home in their neighbourhoods."
