LMH-Teaching how to stay safe

5 November 2009

LMH staff visited Florence Melly school this week with staff from Bramall Construction to give a talk to the children about the dangers of building sites and the importance of keeping away from them and not climbing on scaffolding.

Almost 300 children were present at the assembly which involved showing them a safety DVD and a question and answer session with them.  Prizes were handed out to the children who answered questions correctly.  Also all children in year 3 and above were given a Bramalls safety book and LMH pencil cases, pencils and rulers. Two of the children were also winners of the colouring competition we held at the open day for the estate in August and they were presented with goody bags, certificates and gift vouchers.

The chat was done to coincide with the launch of the external works programme on the estate were scaffolding is due to be erected on the LMH properties surrounding the school, the children all enjoyed the chat and are now all aware that they should not play on or around the work areas or climb the scaffolding.
