RAISE is a specialist benefits and debt advice team which offers LMH tenants the support and information they need to maximise their income from benefits. LMH tenants who are having difficulty paying their rent are often put in touch with RAISE.
The RAISE team were finalists in the Partnership Award category in the recent LMH Focus Awards. They are doing an excellent job in advising up to 30 LMH tenants every week on Housing Benefit, other benefits, and offering general advice on money matters.
Tenants can rely on the RAISE team to explain the benefits system and offer them support and practical help in submitting a new claim.
“We often find that tenants are not aware of all the benefits they can claim when they come to us and they are very worried about being in debt,” said Alan Bornat, Manager at RAISE. “Our advice can make a fantastic difference to a tenant’s income and to way they feel. When customers get the right benefits and are able to pay their rent and other bills it is a big weight off their shoulders. It gives them self-respect and allows them to get on with their lives.”
