Is your home secure?

Follow these simple tips to be more secure in your home:

  • If you have a door viewer (spy hole), check to see who is calling.
  • If you have a door chain, keep it on when you open the door.
  • Check all callers. If you are unsure about the caller, ask to see identification, check it and contact the organisation they claim to represent to check if they are genuine. If you have any suspicions about a caller, telephone the Police.
  • When you go away, consider fitting a timer device to a living room lamp to make the house appear to be occupied.
  • Arrange with a trusted neighbour to keep an eye on each others houses.
  • Make sure you have closed all windows and locked the doors whenever you go out.
  • At night make sure ground floor windows and the windows near drain pipes or flat roofs are closed.
  • Don’t leave external door keys in locks, and don’t leave them where they can be seen through a window. The same applies if you have window locks with keys. Keep all keys safe.
  • We can ensure only our own representatives visit your home by identifying themselves with a pre arranged password.
