Winter Hampers for the older community

As part of the Older People’s Group, it was the turn of Liverpool Mutual Homes to kick off the festive season and host the bustling Winter Hampers packing event. Ongoing supporter, Ricky Tomlinson teamed up with over 40 volunteers to help create and deliver over 1500 Winter Hampers to members of the older community.

Alongside LMH, other Merseyside housing associations, Liverpool City Council and a number of agencies who provide support for the older community, came together to pack the essential clothing and food items for older people, many of who are vulnerable and isolated at this time of year.

Deputy Mayor, Ann O’Byrne opened the event and took the opportunity to thank all the volunteers and partners involved. Ricky and Cllr Gerrard Woodhouse were on hand with Christmas cheer as the production line of blankets, tinned treats and more was underway.

Angela Forshaw, Executive Director (Operations) for LMH said: “I think that the spirit of partnership to help people in this city who need it at this time of year, is wonderful.”
