Situated on land between Great Homer Street and Kirkdale Road, Everton, our Marwood Towers’ development has delivered a lasting legacy for Liverpool.
This £8.5 million redevelopment project has transformed a landmark building situated on the major northern route in and out of the city centre into high-quality modern apartments, including specialist accommodation for over 55s.
Marwood Towers originally opened in 1965 as ‘general needs’ flats, but over time became rundown and outdated. The ambitious redevelopment called for the complete refurbishment of the original 57 flats and the addition of 24 new-build apartments, providing supported accommodation.
Designed by John McCall Architects, the scheme provides high-quality apartments and a range of community facilities. Benefits include modern energy-saving external wall cladding, which not only visually enhances the 15-storey tower but also tackles fuel poverty.
Willmott Dixon acted as main contractor on the development, which forms part of the Strategic Housing Development Partnership (SHDP).
Marwood is also part of the wider redevelopment of the Everton area, a scheme known as ‘Project Jennifer’ which will transform this part of North Liverpool, providing a new District Centre for the north of the city, with a new supermarket, new shops, improved public spaces and new homes.
