What is Shared Ownership?

Shared Ownership gives you the ability to buy a share in a new home and is aimed at people aspiring to become home owners who are struggling against barriers such as finding a deposit or mortgage. 

How does Shared Ownership Work?

You can purchase from 25% to 75% of your new home, depending on what you can afford. You will pay a reduced rent on the remaining share. This means you can buy with a smaller mortgage and deposit. 

Can I increase the share?

Yes. You can buy a bigger share in your home when you can afford to (this is called staircasing). As you buy more shares you will pay less rent. Usually you can eventually own 100% of your home.

As a homeowner, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repairs on your home. If you live in an apartment, we will be responsible for the communal areas (but you will likely be liable for service charges).
